A huge achievement for the group was the construction of a badly needed workshop in which to build theatre sets and store scenery. This would not have been possible without the generous support of the Shetland community and a grant from the Shetland LEADER 2007-2013 Programme for which we are extremely grateful. The workshop is also suitable for holding training sessions in theatre related activities.
Some of the committee and members in celebratory mood before the opening ceremony!
Chair of the group at the time of the opening Morag Mouat saying a few words, alongside Doreen Gray who was Chair when the project was started. The workshop was officially opened by Mr John Bulter on 23 June 2013.
As part of Volunteers’ Week in June 2015 we took some of our young members to the workshop to provide them with a tour and understanding of what is involved in getting a show ready for the theatre.
In 2010 one of our workshop fundraising projects was to produce and sell a recipe book. We wrote to many well-known people requesting their favourite recipes and were delighted with the response from so many celebrities. Many of our members also contributed.
Unfortunately the book did not reach the printing stage and we are very pleased that there is now an opportunity to share it with you here on our new website, just click on the image above to download.
Our thanks goes to Melvyn Leask who designed the book. Details were correct at the time of writing.
We hope you will enjoy trying out some celebrities and members favourite recipes!
